Another quilt done!

Over a year ago, I started to make a quilt.  It seemed simple enough, it was just a throw quilt, and it took me an afternoon to put the top together.  I had grand plans to hand quilt cupcakes into each square, it would take no time at all!   However, I didn't realize that using a non-cotton backing fabric would ever cause a problem.  The backing fabric was actually an old curtain, and it was made of some sort of polyester.  Hand quilting that was ridiculous.  I couldn't complete a single running stitch.  It has taken me over a year to finish quilting this, and I'm so glad it's done.  Here are some pics.

I hope my friend likes it!

Yoga mat bag

I read a lot of crafting blogs, maybe too many, but I love seeing what great ideas other people come up with.  I saw this project and knew I had to do it!  I have a yoga mat, but no bag for it.  I didn't have any extra pillowcases like she did, but I found a two pack at target for under 10 dollars so it wasn't too expensive.  I used the second pillowcase to make a case for my mother, I can't wait to send it to her!

Here is the raw pillowcase:

and here it is completed!

click on the project link if you want the instructions.  I didn't use a drawstring though, I used elastic since that's what I had on hand.

Bird Quilt

I haven't finished a quilt in a very long time, but here one is, completed!  This is for a friend of mine, and I can't wait to give it to her!  I fell in love with the main fabric, and designed the whole quilt around it.  It's pretty much the same as a pattern I saw by Michele Sorensen called "Flip a Coin" in the easy quilts magazine.  Here are some pics, but I'm not showing the label since it's a surprise!

This is the back of the quilt, I wanted to show off the awesome machine quilting that a quilt guild friend did for me.  She's awesome!
